Chicken Farmers of Canada welcomed the 2024-2025 cohort of the Young Farmers Program to Ottawa for the first time on March 20-21. The Young Farmers were able to sit in on the Annual General Meeting, the board meeting and attend the Joint Annual Reception at the Fairmont Château Laurier, hosted with the other poultry and egg producers of Canada. The 2023-2024 cohort of Young Farmers also joined the events and passed the baton. At the reception, the farmers had the opportunity to connect with the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay. The visit was a great introduction to CFC and allowed the Young Farmers to build relationships across the sector.
The same week, CFC held the inaugural Chicken Champs Training. Public relations and communications coach Linda Smith shared her expertise by leading spokesperson training, while CFC staff provided information on the Chicken Champs program, key messages, and social media usage.
